Today, Samsung quietly unveiled its Galaxy A16 5G, although the release date and price have not yet been announced. This budget-friendly smartphone is the first in Samsung’s lineup to offer six versions of Android updates and six years of security patches. In other words, if you buy the Galaxy A16 5G, you can be sure of receiving updates until October 2030. If you ever doubted Samsung’s dominance in software updates, we hope this convinces you.
Currently, no other $200 smartphone offers such long-term software support. The price of the Galaxy A16 5G was leaked a while ago, revealing that it would launch in Europe for €240, while the 4G model, which has yet to be introduced, is priced at €210.
This phone is powered by an octa-core processor. Although Samsung usually doesn’t mention the specific processors in its official spec lists, it is said that the A16 5G uses the Exynos 1330 chipset.
On the front of the Galaxy A16 5G, there’s a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080 FHD+ and a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage (up to 1.5TB). However, if you plan to use a microSD card, you won’t be able to use two SIM cards at the same time. It runs on a 5000mAh battery, which is more than enough for daily usage and beyond. It also supports 25W fast charging.
For photography, the Galaxy A16 5G is equipped with a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP (main) + 5MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) lens. Naturally, you shouldn’t expect any optical image stabilization or advanced zoom capabilities. There’s also a 13MP front camera for selfies. Additionally, the Galaxy A16 5G comes with an IP54 certification for dust and splash resistance, a first for Samsung’s budget phone lineup.
